It was Duchess Kate’s turn yesterday and the blazing May sunshine made her Emilia Wickstead coat dress glow in one of the most vibrant hues we’ve ever seen. What is that color—coral? Salmon? Bubblegum pink? Whatever color that happens to be, at least we can agree that the Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning. (It’s actually a version of the pale blue coat dress she wore to Easter Service alongside Prince William and their two oldest children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.) She paired the coat dress with a swirly pleated $1,200 matching fascinator and a new pair of earrings by her favorite jewelry designer Kiki McDonough. They appear to be the designer’s morganite and white gold cushion drops with an eye-watering price of £2,300 ($2,850)—maybe that’s why Kate chose to carry a vintage embroidered clutch! Her embroidered Art Deco clutch by Josef dates from the 1930s and is embellished with hundreds of tiny ivory beads. We also appreciated that Kate applied a slightly bolder color to her lips than we generally see on her—a coral shade to match her outfit. According to Town & Country, it’s been a decade since Kate made her debut at the famous garden parties. Yesterday, she was accompanied by the queen’s youngest son Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex. Edward was adhering to the dress code for men, which meant a top coat and tails as well as a top hat. He must have been hot! Around 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches, and 20,000 slices of cake are consumed at every royal garden party. It was at one such event in 2018 that Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry made their debut as newlyweds. Infamously, the Duchess of Sussex appeared to be bowing to the weight of royal expectations by stepping out in a pair of sheer tights several shades too pale for her actual skin tone. We’re so relieved that Meghan wears what she wants, when she wants, now that the Sussexes and their children Archie and Lilibet are living their best lives in California. Last week she was spotted watching her husband play with the Santa Barbara Polo Club, looking chic and chill in white cut-off shorts and a white shirt. She also appeared to accessorize with Harry’s polo mallet in one hand and his shoes in the other. Just kidding, she was only holding them for him! Next up, find out the 10 things that will happen when Queen Elizabeth II dies.
