Here are all The Voice singers who have tragically died so far.

The Voice deaths

Beverly McClellan (season 1)

The Voice caught like wildfire in its first season on NBC due in part to admiration for both the chemistry between its superstar judges and the impressive bout of new talent. One person who was part of the latter was Beverly McClellan, who got to compete as part of Christina Aguilera’s team. The rocker ended up making finale night, claiming third place overall. In 2018, Beverly was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. She passed away on October 30 of the same year at the age of 49.

Christina Grimmie (season 6)

Like Beverly, Christina Grimmie made it to third place in her season as well, as part of Team Adam Levine. She had already built a name for herself prior to going on The Voice, having gone viral with several of her song covers on YouTube. She replicated that success on the show, being the first blind audition seen on season 6 and prompting a chair turn from all four judges. The studio versions of her songs hit the top 10 of the iTunes charts four times, including her covers of “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “How to Love.” Just as 22-year-old Christina’s career was seemingly just getting started, it tragically ended. Shortly after performing a concert in Orlando, FL, on June 10, 2016, she was fatally shot.

Anthony Riley (season 8)

Anthony Riley drew a lot of heads (and chairs) when he got the judges to all turn around to his audition song of “I Feel Good.” He chose to join up with newer coach Pharrell Williams. However, after winning his Battle round, he chose to withdraw from the competition, citing “personal health” reasons. It has been rumored that he did so to check himself into rehab, having struggled with addiction. Anthony passed away at the age of 28 from suicide on June 5, 2015.

Janice Freeman (season 13)

Janice Freeman is the latest alumna from The Voice to pass. She was the first person to join coach Miley Cyrus’ team on season 13, performing “Radioactive” for her blind audition. After excelling through the rest of the competition, she was surprisingly eliminated in the second round of live shows, finishing in 11th place overall. On March 2, 2019, Janice died due to a blood clot that had made its way to her heart due to a bout of pneumonia. Since her death, her former coach Miley has vowed to support the husband and daughter that she left behind. Next, here are all the American Idol alumni who have died.
