Kim, who took a break from snowboarding to attend college at Princeton University before the pandemic put that on hold, also was revealed as the Jellyfish on The Masked Singer in season four (which aired in December 2020). Now, she’s gearing up for the 2022 Games, which kick off Friday, Feb. 4, 2022.

1. She’s trilingual; she spent two years studying in Switzerland and speaks English, French and Korean. 2. She’s the only athlete in X Games history to earn three gold medals before turning 16. 3. Her birthday is April 23, 2000. 4. She placed third in her first competition before having any formal training. 5. Kim’s parents emigrated from South Korea and they still have family there. 6. She loves Skittles and was sent a lifetime supply from the candy company. 7. At the 2016 U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix, she became the first female snowboarder to land back-to-back 1080 degree spins in a competition. (She scored a perfect 100—the only other person to do that is Shaun White.) 8. She was a sports envoy for the U.S. State Department and held snowboarding clinics for local children. 9. Her father started teaching her to snowboard when she was just 4 years old and she quickly caught on. 10. She revealed to Vogueshe’s more of a city girl than a mountain girl and likes to hang out at the mall. Some of her favorite stores are Zara, Balenciaga and Anthropologie.
